West Country Mini's Vote 2010 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator

With the Club continuing to grow in size, the time has come to put an organised structure in place in order to lead and direct our future. Therefore, with immediate effect the existing club volunteers are all released from their duties, and all existing Club moderators, administrators and helpers will revert to “member” status.

On Thursday September 9th, at the Rose and Crown Public House in Pucklechurch, the first Extraordinary General Meeting will take place to vote in a new operating committee for the Club. This is an opportunity for all members to form a fair Committee to represent and work in the best interests of the Club, making sure West Country Minis delivers a fair, transparent and value for money experience to all members. There will be an Annual General Meeting where changes to the Committee will be voted for each year.

The three roles making up this Committee are those of:

Chairman
Club Secretary
Treasurer

These roles will be for a 1 year period, and will be voted for again at the Annual General Meeting of the club to be held around the September/October time each year.

Simon Fielding (forum name minibazzer) will be administering all aspects of the voting process, and as such will sacrifice his right to vote and remain impartial until the new Committee is in place. Please keep an eye on your email and the forum for nomination/voting information.

Simon will also act as interim keeper for the Club accounts book, membership book, cashbox and bank documents, and be solely responsible for all Club activities and communication until the new Committee is in place.

Nominations for the three Committee roles are now OPEN, with a closing date for submission of 9pm on Wednesday 1st September. The responsibilities for each of the three roles are detailed in the member’s area of the discussion forums, and will be sent by email to all members. All members are encouraged to read these responsibilities and decide if they can dedicate the time and effort required before nominating, and also to understand what is expected of those individuals they will be voting for.

Mini in the Park 2010, Santa Pod PDF Print E-mail

What a weekend! And we got there just in time Saturday early evening before the heavens opened along with an almighty thunder storm, which at one point was right above us. But it didn't dampen our spirits! Wcm once again proved how to have a good time, along with going on the dodgems and partying the night away with The Blue's Brothers and then teaching other fellow mini owners dance routines! Was such a great laugh. The show which followed on the Sunday had the best weather of the weekend thank fully! although interesting getting the minis out of the camp site which had become a mud bath! It was more like Mini in the Mud! The show was packed as always, with club stands, traders, auto jumble, the strip, in which one of our fellow members Steve, took his R1 down the strip and did quite well. One of the highlights for me at this event is the famous jet car! Totally awesome to watch and i think our members who have not been to this event before were pretty amazed by it. Also can't forgetting the monster truck now that is a site to see, im sure all the kids including the adults loved that. Hopefully next years weather will be a little kinder for us especially when we're camping.

RIV RUN 2010 PDF Print E-mail

What a fab run down and weekend! It certainly is great to see so many member taking part in the annual event hosted by MiniWorld. Around about 10 minis turned up at gordano from the club for the run down, in total though 13 minis turned out for the event. A couple had already headed down on the friday to get there nice and early and await our arrival. Once we had our plaques from Monty of MiniWorld we were on our way to Newquay with no major problems at all! Once there we set up camp, and a few of us got ready to hit the town. WCM had invaded Newquay, along with lots of other clubs. On the sunday, it was our usual annual group photo taken at The Cyder Farm. A quick look round, and a few headed to St Ives and we certainly picked the best day for it! We just had to make sure we held on to our ice creams!! Then for the evening, a BBQ took place where we ALL got together and had a really nice evening, of drinking and eating. Monday came and quite a few had left for the journey home, but there was still some of us who stayed that little bit longer and saw a bit more of cornwall. I think a weeks camping is almost certainly enough! Here's to next year and hopefully a few more tagging along!

What a fantastic day out and the weather was on our side! A total of 9 minis attended the day out all nice and shiny, and parked up outside the museum. We had so much interest through out the day from children and adults alike having a good look around them and having their photo's taken with our pride and joy. Once parked up, and group photo's done, we took a wander around the pretty village before stopping for lunch in a local pub. After we all got an ice cream and sat on the bridge in the lovely sunshine before having another stroll around and having a pleasant drive home.

Bingley Hall 2010 PDF Print E-mail

First show of the year went really well! A total of 8 minis from the club took the drive up to Bingley Hall. We all just about managed to get there, although one member had a minor problem with his fuel pump and had to be towed there by another member in a normal car, luckily he was able to get it fixed for the journey home!
The usual trade stands and club stands there, some new and regular minis attended the show and as always with British Mini Club shows, the raffle to win a mini was a highlight of the day and the first time for it be drawn twice!!! The first ticket to be pulled out was not claimed, and there was a mix up with the second ticket! Unfortunately none of members were fortunate enough to win it, better luck next time!! All in all a good day out and a good kick start to this years shows.

Bath & West Mini Show, followed by Fish & Chips in Weston! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jaffa
Monday, 30 November 2009 20:08

Well what a very poor mini show! And expensive for what it was. One room, no bigger than a leisure centre size hall, of a few minis and a couple of stalls for £7.50? I was not impressed and nor were the rest of the members that went. I should imagine there will be a few complaints made to the organisers and mini mag! So at about 12ish we had a mad idea and decided to head down to weston for fish and chips! It was such a laugh even if it was raining, then we headed to the amusements for a bit of a giggle!

Here's a couple of pictures taken on the night!
